Welcome to a new and an exciting year at Pineville Elementary School. My name is Brittany Houser and I will be teaching first grade! This is my eighth year at Pineville Elementary. In the summer of 2008, I moved to Charlotte from Akron, Ohio where I lived most of my life. I graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; receiving a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
In my family, I am the oldest of three girls. I have a dog named Gretel. Before I started as a teacher, I worked for three years at a summer camp for children with specials needs. It was a truly rewarding learning experience for me. I enjoy going for runs, listening to all types of music, and watching movies and sports. I love to watch Ohio State football. Go Buckeyes!
I believe that this quote from William Arthur Ward helps to summarize my goals as a teacher, “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” This year I strive to inspire each and every one of your children. I know that they will also inspire me. I want them to gain a love for knowledge and learning! I believe in “hands on” learning for cognitive growth and the importance of educating the whole child. My students and I constantly use technology to greater enhance our learning experiences.
I look forward to meeting and working with you during the year. I will keep my website updated weekly and monthly. It will notify you of concepts that we are covering, important dates, and some strategies that you can use with your child at home. Please feel free to call, visit, or email me. The phone number to the school office is (980) 343-3920. My email address is:[email protected]. I will respond to you within 24 hours.
My classroom will be a place where your child will feel safe and respected. I believe that the classroom is a community of students, teachers, and parents. With your help, I know that this will be a very successful and exciting school year!
Sincerely,
Ms. Houser
